JAMMU, Nov 21: Langate MLA Raheed, who is known for creating scenes in and outside the Assembly and who organized beef party at the MLA hostel in Srinagar last month to hurt the religious sensitivities of Hindus, is not happy with "mainstream" and separatist Kashmiri leadership. He has several complaints against them. One of his complaints against them is that they have failed the people of Kashmir by not demanding Indian Institute of technology (IIT) and Indian Institute of Management (IIM) for Kashmir.
The announcement that IIT and IIM will be established in Jammu has not gone down well with Rasheed.
"The Union Government finally conceded to the demand of establishing AIIMS in Jammu but has thrown in to dustbin the demand of establishing IIT and IIM in Kashmir, because their warriors (in this case Kashmiri leaders) didn't show seriousness for the same. Since Delhi often prefers to take care of Jammu region, it got a reason to oblige Jammu by awarding their agitation with AIIMS, however, Kashmiris preferred criminal silence as if they were self sufficient in every aspect," he has said.
"These institutions would neither mean an end to resistance movement (read separatist movement) nor would mean rewarding something to anti nationals. If this nation has the history of having hundreds of Bandhs and Hartals why couldn't we have even a token Hartal for seeking IIT and IIM for Kashmir?
Worst enemies of Kashmiris too would also be feeling for the behaviour and response of Kashmiris over very sensitive and basic issues. Everybody in Kashmir wants to run his retail shop," he has further said, and added that "they (Kashmiris) are asked to have Hartals, protests and cast their votes but their right to seek answers from their leaders seem to have been seized".
Condemning "mainstream" and separatist Kashmiri leaders for their indifferent attitude to his demand for establishment of IIT and IIM in Kashmir, Rasheed said: "With Separatists even not interested in talking a word about IIT and IIM, mainstream politicians are also busy in digging grave for Kashmiri's interests. Thus New Delhi is getting å walk over in every round and it seems to be a one-sided affair. The words 'collective approach and response' and 'joint strategy' seem to be missing from the dictionary of Kashmiris right from the day when separatist politicians over powered or bypassed militant leadership and mainstream leaders decided to represent Delhi in Kashmir".
Rasheed whose face was blackened in Delhi, in fact, wants the "mainstream" and separatist Kashmiri leaders to start struggle aimed at obtaining IIT and IIM for Kashmir, notwithstanding the fact that Kashmir is far more developed in every respect than Jammu province and it is also superior to Jammu as far the number of technical and professional institutions is concerned.
It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's package provides for establishment of AIIMS, IIT, IIM and Smart city taking into consideration the backwardness and underdevelopment in Jammu province and also provides for establishment AIIMS and Smart City in Kashmir. Remember, Kashmir already has an AIIMS-like institution and IIT-like institution.
