CTA resents over JUTA, KUTA statements

Jammu, Feb 10: A joint meeting of CTA Jammu wing and Kashmir wing was held at Jammu, in response to the statements issued by JUTA and KUTA regarding the recent order issued by the Government thereby authorizing the Assistant and Associate professors to act as Guides/Co-Guides.
CTA Jammu wing and Kashmir wing strongly resented the response of the JUTA and KUTA to the government order NO 77-HE of 2018 Dated 08-02-2018, whereby the Higher Education Department has authorized the Assistant /Associate Professors of Higher Education Department having Ph.D degrees to act as Guides/Co-Guides for M.Phil/Ph.D scholars registered in any State/Central University within or outside the state.
CTA in its meeting unanimously rejected the reasons given by JUTA and KUTA for withdrawing the government order and stated that University Teachers want to have hegemony of research over the college teachers and in the process of proving their ascendancy in research want to suppress research activities in colleges.
The University Teachers consider that research is their patent right and are afraid that if college teachers are allowed to go for research, it means as if college teachers are encroaching upon their right to research as if research is their monopoly only.
The college teachers association took strong exception to the approach of University Teachers reaction to the Government Order and expressed that the College teachers are not demanding any exemption of rules or modification of statutes for carrying out research activities in colleges but only want to pursue research under the ambit of University rules and statutes. CTA further stated that in order to prove their dominance the University teachers want to curb the research environment in the colleges.
It shall not be out of place to mention here that in most of the colleges of different universities the college teachers are allowed to act as Guides/Co-Guides under rules.CTA expressed that there should not be a dichotomy between the rules and statutes of one University and another University so far as the college teachers acting as Guides/Co-Guides is concerned.
CTA further demanded that the disparity between the age of superannuation of college Teachers and University Teachers should be removed by the government so that age of superannuation of College Teachers is at par with that of University Teachers. CTA strongly stands by the order issued by the government and any dilution thereof shall be taken seriously by the Association.
