2/10/2018 11:14:39 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 10: Golfers from Jammu and Kashmir, who participated in the "14th Greater Kashmir Invitational Golf Tournament," praised the GK initiative and described their participation in the event as a "fabulous experience."
The golfers said that such tournaments promote talent and are much needed in the state.
Umar Ganai and Dhruv Malhotra, winners of the highest margin trophy thanked Greater Kashmir team and other sponsors for organizing the tournament. They also said that more youngsters should be involved to make the event more challenging and vibrant.
"This tournament has provided a chance to senior as well as budding golfers to showcase their talent.
I started playing golf in 2016 but have already participated in three tournaments, of which two were organized by Greater Kashmir," said Akash Bhola, who won the "Closest to the Pin" award.
A group of golfers, including Bhupesh Gupta, Sanjeev Pathania, Dawood Iqbal and Anil Slathia said that more such competitions should be held across the state to make the golf popular and golfers from across the country should be invited to play in such tournaments.
"The government needs to take more steps like organizing camps for school children and by hiring professional coaches," they added.
The golfers dispelled the notion that golf is confined to elite class only.
"Anyone who has got the passion for the game can come forward and exhibit his talent. If you have the talent sky is the limit," they said.
