Prominent restaurants challaned for unhygienic conditions, samples of chocolates, spices lifted from Best Prize for analysis

Jammu, Feb 10: Team of Food Safety today challaned prominent restaurants at Trikuta Nagar for unhygienic conditions and also lifted the samples of chocolates and spices from Best Prize Jammu for analysis.
The Food Safety team led by Dr Parvesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Jammu and assisted by Food Officers Ajay Khajuria, Jai Inder, Daleep Singh and Hans Raj inspected many restaurants and challaned them for unhygienic conditions of cooking, processing and washing area of food at Trikuta Nagar.
Prominent restaurants 'Rawal Pindi' and 'Fun Byte' have also been challaned for unhygienic conditions. Moreover, the team lifted the samples of cheese from Big Bakers and sauces from Fun Byte at Trikuta Nagar.
The team asked the restaurants owners and workers to improve their work culture otherwise strict action will be taken against them including closure of their business establishments. They were advised to keep the cooking area neat and clean and maintain personal hygiene so that people who eat food and eatables in their establishments get well nourished and hygienic food.
Dr Parvesh Kumar apprised them that their restaurants are in posh area of the Jammu and people have blind faith over them. "Don't play with the lives of the people by serving them unhygienic food", he added.
The team also advised the staff of the restaurants to follow all the norms as per FSSA and two weeks time has been served to them to improve their work culture.
The Food Safety team also lifted the samples of chocolates and spices from Best Prize Jammu for analysis.
Later, the Food Safety team organized an awareness camp at Bikram Chowk, in which hundreds of dhaba owners took part.
The team asked the dhaba owners to get the medical fitness certificates of their workers prepared. Dr Parvesh asked them to get their licences registered and renewed. He also asked them to serve quality food to their customers and maintain proper hygiene, dress code, etc.
He also asked them to use dustbins for waste material, maintain pest control and water facility, use stainless steel knives and vessels for cooking and buy good quality vegetables and spices.
