IEC campaign on WASH concludes

Jammu, Feb 16: A five days campaign on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) launched by CCDU, Department of PHE, I & FC through National Development Foundation J&K Jammu successfully concluded with organization of 13 painting competitions and 13 rallies. The objective of the campaign was to sensitize the children on benefits of water conservation, techniques of water harvesting, sanitation and personal hygiene. 25 students participated in each painting competition and prizes were given to five best participants i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd and two consolation prizes alongwith certificates to all participants. Apart from this about 100 students participated in each rally which passed through various public places wherein children raised slogans like Pani Bachao Zindagi Bachao, Khule mein shoch na karein, Pani test karvaao peene yogey banaao etc etc. Er. Kuldeep Magotra Executive Director CCDU in a statement called upon the students to carry out outreach activity in their respective localities so that the message of Save and Safe water reaches every household. He complemented the NDF team and CCDU staff for successful conduct of rallies and painting competitions. Rajiv Khajuria Founder Emeritus National Development Foundation termed rallies and painting competitions as a tool of behavorial change among the students. He emphasised that children are the most vibrant section of the society and involving them in such activities will go a long run in water conservation and ensuring safe drinking water for the future generation.
He hailed SE Hydraulic Jammu Er. Jagdish Singh Chib, SE Hydraulic Kathua Er. Ashok Sharma, Executive Engineer Rural Er. Rajesh Gupta, Executive Engineer Akhnoor Er. Sunil Ganjoo, Executive Engineer Samba Er. Surinder Abrol, Executive Engineer Kathua Er. Ajay Gupta for making the school campaign a great success. He also thanked the District Development Commissioners of Jammu, Samba and Kathua and Education Deptt. for their full support and cooperation and assured that NDF will continue to organize such events in future also. The places where painting competitions were held and the rallies started and culminated includes GMS Barnoti Kathua, Govt. High School Raipur Satwari Jammu, Govt. Boys Middle School Bhalwal Jammu, Govt. High School Parliwand Kathua, Govt. High School Kharote Kathua, Govt. Girls Middle School Muthi Jammu, Govt. Middle School Satwari Jammu, Govt. Middle School Dherian Khour Jammu, Govt. Middle School Dhalli Kathua, Govt. Girls High School Hiranagar Kathua, Govt. Girls Middle School Daskal Jammu, Govt. Middle School Budwani Samba, Govt. Middle School Arazi Samba.
