Shifting of UIET; students go on strike
2/18/2018 10:00:00 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 18: It has been now 14 days today after the decision by the Cabinet has been passed to disassociate University Institute of Engineering and Technology from Jammu University. The students had started protesting from the day the Decision was passed by the Cabinet.
The students were of the opinion that they took admission in an A+ grade University but due to a unfortunate step taken by the J&K cabinet has thrown the students future in darkness.
The students approached several authorities but didn't got any help. It is very pertinent to mention that Jammu University Via notification had called for admission in the course of B.Tech last year in which 64 students took admission. Students have cleared their first semester course and now the University authority having something behind thier mind have given this Institute the Government in the name of GCET Janglote and not even fought for it in the cabinet meet. Now the course which has been offered to students in GCET is B.E and the GCET Janglote has not yet completed the procedure of affiliation which furthermore adds to the miseries of students.
Students were forced to sit on Chain Hunger Strike from Friday Evening onwards in which 3 student groups have sat on Chain Hunger strike. Several Teacher Forums have supported their cause of Agitation and gave them full assurance that the forums shall stand on every step with them in each step of Agitation. Today a meeting of parents was held in University in which parents extended their support to the students and sat with them on Dharna. Group of parents also met the legislatives for giving them support to their movement and the students who sat on hunger strike were Shubham Singh and Gurjeet Singh.
