Jammu, Feb 18: Natrang Jammu today presented a new satirical play "Aaya Nahi Aayi" written by Rajindra Kumar Sharma and directed by Neeraj Kant Sharma in its weekly theatre series, 'Sunday Theatre' at Natrang Studio theatre, Jammu.
The play opens up with sunny morning and chirping birds like a regular day of working couple Lata and Arun who are fighting over a cup of tea that who will make tea today morning. Lata is a teacher at school and Arun is a Government employee.
They are blessed with a baby boy and when both of them leave for office their Aaya (Nanny) takes care of the baby. But today morning is unfortunate for both of them as their Aaya doesn't come till the said time and both of them realize it between their regular arguments and they have important works at their respective jobs restricting them to take a holiday and take care of the baby.
None of their neighbours come to their rescue. An old lady who is the gossip hub of the neighbourhood comes to visit them but leaves before they could ask for their help.
They ask Kamla, their next door neighbour for help but she swiftly refuses and instead asks them to take care of her child. Now burdened with two children they are in a much worse condition compared to when they began.
The Aaya's lover Jonny also pays them a visit and asks them about her whereabouts. Frustrated by this ordeal they begin bickering again.
Arun wants Lata to stay home, while Lata wants Arun to stay. In between such hustle and bustle Lata's Principal comes to her rescue and whisks her away handing over her baby to Arun as her aaya is also on leave today. Poor Arun is left behind miserable to take care of 3 children.
