Illegal encroachments, construction on state land at main Mishriwala go on unabated
2/18/2018 11:14:55 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 18: Claims of state government that it is contemplating strict action against encroachers of state land encroachers, have fallen flat as some of the alleged land-grabbers encroached state land and started illegal construction on a piece of land near the National Highway of Jammu-Akhnoor.
As per locals, the Mishriwala is strategically and religiously very important town that is connecting link between religiously famous Baba Jitto Shrine located in Jhiri as well as it is connecting Jammu to Kana Chack as well as Garkhal Indo-Pak border. The municipality has also extended its limits to Mishriwala town in view of the proposal of Jammu Smart City.
But due to the lack-lustre attitude of government departments like SDM Office, BDO Office; R&B Department I&FC Department, the land grabbers has also started encroaching road; irrigation and main Chowk land. They alleged that the encroacher started construction of three shops on the road itself three months back. Under protest from locals the work on the said land got stopped by different departments on more than two occasions in the past but after a gap of few days and due to the lacklustre attitude of officials the land grabber has also completed plinth of three shops. If the encroachments on road and irrigation land go on unabated, it shall severely hamper in future widening of the strategically very important road. It shall encourage others to encroach state land throwing into winds the claims of government to save state land from encroachers. It is also learnt that no formal site plan approval has been taken from JDA or BDO Bhalwal for raising commercial constructions by the said encroacher who is claiming that land. They added that there is strong resentment amongst the locals and Revenue Minister, Divisional Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Jammu must intervene and save the strategically important land from encroachments and illegal constructions.
