Sermons from a senior separatist
2/19/2018 11:10:11 PM
Kashmir Mirwaiz, Molvi Umar Farooq, has dished out a sermon for India and Pakistan to behave as a mature nations an d stop exchanging fire on the LoC and on the IB. But despite a good sermon Molvi Umar has ignored militancy related violence and the Pakistan sponsored insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir. At a time India and Pakistan are blazing guns on borders, Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has asked the two countries to "behave like mature and sensible nations." Asking India and Pakistan to resolve Kashmir issue peacefully, Mirwaiz said there is little scope for a military solution to the 70-year old Kashmir issue. Yes Kashmir Mirwaiz is right when he says there is no scope for a military solution for the settlement of the Kashmir issue. What is then the alternative.? And Molvi Umar has suggested that if India and Pakistan resume talks the two nations may be able to resolve the Kashmir issue. But which side will bell the cat? Well India has imposed certain preconditions for the resumption of bilateral dialogue. And when Pakistan has not implemented even one conditions how is it possible for India to reopen the channels of talks? Instead of dishing out sermons to Pakistan and India the Mirwaiz should have issued a separate plea to Pakistan to fulfill the basic condition required for the resumption of bilatateral talks. In fact the Mirwaiz and his fellow travellers including Syed Ali Shah Geelani and other separatists could mount pressure on Pakistan to stop exporting terror to India, especially to Jammu and Kashmir.
"Our past experience of 70 years is evident that there is little scope for a military solution to the Kashmir issue. After India and Pakistan became nuclear powers, it has become even more difficult for both the countries to maintain the current status quo in an environment of mutual distrust and regular LoC and border skirmishes," said Mirwaiz, The Hurriyat (M) chief termed the present rulers as "collaborators" who under the influence of their "masters" need to remember that in Islam "mosque is a place of collective worship." Yes a mosque is a place of collective worship and but these separatists have been misusing these mosques for preaching sedition and other anti-India propaganda. That is the reason that the state Government keeps the doors of these mosques shut instead of allowing supporters of separatists to create added law and order problem. And the coalition Government rulers need not accept any dictation from the centre because law and order is a state subject. Mirwaiz said the escalation of tensions along the border can lead to war with devastating consequences "so it is in the best interest of both India and Pakistan to behave like sensible nations in the interest of their own countries and its people and resolve Kashmir peacefully."
Well he is not right when he says that by closing the mosques Kashmir issue cannot be settled. Mosques are shut when there is danger to law and order. It is not the question of preventing people from offering prayers in mosques. The gates of mosques are shut whenever separatists give a call for holding protest rallies. In order to prevent clashes between the security forces and protesters in which there is danger of loss of life, the mosques are kept out of bounds for people. Since Pakistani troops cherish violating ceasefire agreement by pounding border outposts and civilian houses on this side of the border forcing several thousand border villagers to migrate to safer places how is it possible to accept the sermon of the Kashmir Mirwaiz to resolve the Kashmir issue through talks. Let there be conducive atmosphere for talks and Pakistan is supposed to promote conducive atmosphere which could lead to a meaningful dialogue process. What is a guarantee for Pakistan to have result-oriented and meaningful dialogue ? Certainly not because Pakistan would insist on the incorporation of Jammu and Kashmir with Islamabad.
