| JUTA gives 'sermons' to students', skips UIET issue | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 19: Jammu University Teachers Association (JUTA) failed to raise the issue of shifting of the University Institute Engineer and Technology (UIET) but went ahead to declare the demand of agitating students for removal of Director Physical Education unlawful.
However, BJP in meeting with RSS, had favoured restoration of UIET at its place i.e. under University of Jammu. "The RSS-BJP Coordination Committee meeting while justifying the students struggle in this regard strongly advocated that the College should continue to be the constituent of JU and no attempt be made to play with the sentiments of students", sources familiar with issue said.
They said that the CC took serious exception of not keeping the newly established Engineering College of Kathua as a constituent of Jammu University as has been decided earlier, the meeting said that the Engineering College should continue to be part of JU which has been sanctioned by RUSA. "The JUTA, yesterday said termed the behaviour of agitating students for removal of Director, as unlawful and unacceptable", said a Professor and added that they should raise the vulnerable issue of UIET. It is matter of disrespect for the varsity, like the administration, the elected body too gave a safe passage 'government' in snatching of the Engineer and Technology college. "It is not possible for an individual to fight against government's decision, but as united, as an elected body of teachers, the JUTA can take the issue and can force the government to restore the college at its original place", they added. Teachers' fraternity support the agitation of students' for UIET, and we expect from likeminded peoples join hands for the cause. "Otherwise, the PSC like past will make injustice with Jammuites, like colleges lecturer and +2 lecturers", they added. |
