Kathua incident: Vested interests playing with fire, maligning majority community | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 20: A few people are trying to politicize the rape and murder of a minor girl in Kathua. Rumours are being spread that nomads living in twin districts of Kathua and Samba are being threatened to leave the area. A source said, "Vested interests are trying their best to polarize the environment and are spreading canards to disturb peace in Jammu region."He said the rally which was taken out by the Hindu Exta Manch was aimed at drawing the attention of the government towards the ongoing investigations. "Many locals believe that accused are being framed and the case should be handed over to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) so that investigations are carried out in a transparent manner." The source said, "A few people tried to give communal twist to the rally and tried to pit the members of two communities against each other. Nomads have been living in Kathua and Samba areas for ages. No one till date has asked them to vacate the area and migrate from there." He said, "Political parties which are trying to communalize the situation should mend their ways and stop adding fuel to the fire. Rape and murder of the minor girl has even pained the members of the majority community living in both these districts. The aim of the rally was not hurt the sentiments of any community." "No stone is being left unturned to malign the image of the members of the majority community in the area and to project them as hate mongers. The efforts are being made to spread communal tension to Jammu region by spreading rumours that ultimatum has been served to members of the minority community," the source added. He said that notion is being created that the nomad girl was raped and murdered to create fear psychosis among the nomad community. "This is just a myth aimed at creating a wedge between the communities," the source claimed. He said, "Politicians who are trying to spread the communal hatred are playing with the fire and they would end up burning their fingers." |
