Team of bureaucrats call on JAC members

Rajouri, Mar 15: A six-member high-level team of bureaucrats today visited Nowshera and held detailed discussions with 10 members of Joint Action Committee (JAC) headed by Subhash Kapoor, president Beopar Mandal.
People of Nowshera are on indefinite strike for the last 28 days demanding district status with HQs at Nowshera and have been observing complete shutdown despite facing huge financial loss worth Rs 3 crores daily.
Residents of Kalakot tehsil are also demanding district status with HQs at Kalakot and spearheading protest demonstrations in favour of their demand for the last 16 days.
Committee led by Lokesh Dutt Jha, Commissioner (revenue) includes Khurshid Shah, Commissioner/ Secretary GAD; Commissioner/ Secretary Revenue, Shahid Anayatullah, Commissioner / Secretary Revenue; Hemant Kumar Sharma, Divisional Commissioner (Jammu) ; Dr S D Singh Jamwal, IGP (Jammu) and Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, DDC, Rajouri.
"The committee members had detailed interaction with the JAC members at Nowshera over their demand. We are also meeting people representatives at Kalakot and Sunderbani and final report , to be submitted to government, will be prepared after final meeting of the committee members at Jammu ." said Lokesh Dutt Zha.
He added district administration as well as divisional administration has appealed to the Nowshera people to close their agitation as the government has sent a high power delegation to take final decision on their demand.
"We had detailed discussions over our demand with the visiting high level committee and they were apprised that district status is only our demand. Now the ball is in the court of government to take final decision that too within a short period on the report of the committee" said Subhash Kapoor.
He added JAC has already decided to move to Jammu on March 17 on feet to express our resentment and for that more than 50000 people have already expressed their consent.
"If the decision comes against us, we are ready to fight for our right and the future will tell to which extent we can go for that" said Kapoor.
Meanwhile , Satinder Choudhry has extended his full support to the JAC and exhorted them to continue their struggle under JAC and don't get divided on the directions of vested interests
Meanwhile Kalakot people lead by Th. Rashpal Singh, former NC MLA and Minister have also put their demand of district status before the high level committee and in favour of their claim they also presented documents.
