Drabu supporters, adversaries 'clash' online
3/19/2018 2:07:30 PM

Eaarly Times Report
Jammu: Even as the sudden ouster of Dr Haseeb Drabu from the Cabinet hints at growing infighting within the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party, a proxy war has broken out online between the rival factions.
Ever Since two Cabinet Ministers reportedly drafted the letter addressed to Governor NN Vohra on Chief Minister’s decision to sack Drabu, there’s no end to a proxy war within the party, which is gaining momentum with each passing day.
While a group of PDP ministers was trying to give an impression that Drabu had not been working for the interests of the state in general and party in particular, the lobby close to him came out with social media messages, highlighting his achievements as Finance Minister.
The 50-point charter of achievement titled “Charge sheet” read: “50 reasons why Haseeb Drabu was sacked?”
“1. Drafted the Self-rule document for the PDP. A document that defines the essence of PDP. 2. Wrote ‘Aspirational Agenda’ the election manifesto of the party,” read the first two points of the “charge sheet”.
Sources said all the 50 points highlighted Drabu’s achievements. Sources said some of his well-wishers including a weekly magazine, had come up with the plan for his online support.
However, within no time, a rival lobby in the PDP came up with a counter narrative and circulated their own version of social media.
The counter narrative, which is also titled “50 reasons why Haseeb Drabu was sacked” contradicts every point of the “pro-Drabu” document.
“1. Drabu claims to have Drafted the Self-rule document for the PDP. A document that defines the essence of PDP. Fact : In 2009 same Drabu rushed to Omar Abdullah and claimed that he had no role in the Self Rule document and that he had no connection with PDP,” reads the first point of the “charge sheet.”

“2. Drabu claims Wrote ‘Aspirational Agenda” the election manifesto of the party. Fact : The Aspirational Agenda was the brainchild of Mufti Sahab and Muzaffar Beigh who gave direction to the agenda,” the “charge sheet” reads.
Sources said both the groups are using their “best brains” to counter each other on social media through multiple means.
“If they (Drabu supporters) are circulating his theory through proxies, we’ll manage the same in a more efficient manner as we have nothing to hide but have a bigger group of brains working for us round the clock,” said a PDP leader on the condition of anonymity.
Some PDP leaders in Kashmir are giving an impression that Drabu’s ouster has benefitted the party.
