As per document available with Early Times, nearly 1282 post of various non- executive cadre were not filled up by department of Information and Communication since last 10 years which were lying vacant either due to superannuation or transfer of employees.
"Out of these vacancies, the maximum numbers of 627 posts were of Telecom Technicians, followed by 253 posts of Assistant Telecom Technicians, 211 posts of Senior Telecom Office Assistant (General) and 159 posts of Junior Engineers", the documents revealed.
Besides, there are 28 posts of Motor Driver and four posts of Junior Hindi Translators were also not filled up by the department which shows its nonchalant attitude.
Sources in the BSNL wishing anonymity informed that due to insufficient manpower, the functioning of department is deteriorating each passing days and now the officials at helm of affair at circle level are looking to fill these posts on temporary basis or need basis rather than recruiting through proper channel.
However, BSNL has started the recruitment for the post of Junior Engineers and Junior Telecom officers through centralized process but process is yet to complete, said sources.
