Modi makes a commitment to secure lives of India's people
4/14/2018 12:02:27 AM
While Modi is busy in seeing his mis
sion of "Make in India" is complete huge foreign investment is being spent on strengthening of India's defiance. And in this connection the system of manufacturing its defence equipment has been upgraded with the purpose of making available all the equipments the Army, the Navy and the Air Force. And new fighter planes are being procured for the Air Force. India strengthens its own defence manufacturing capability and spends close to 12 per cent of its annual budget on the military, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the Government's commitment to peace is as strong as the commitment to protect their people and territory. Speaking at the formal inauguration of the 'def-expo-2018' here, Modi cited ancient Indian thinker Kautilya, who wrote the 'Arthshastra' more than 2,000 years ago, saying, "The king or the ruler must protect his people. However, peace is preferable to war.""India's defence preparedness is guided by these thoughts. India's commitment to peace is as strong as to protect its people and territory. India is ready to take all steps to equip its armed forces, with no extra-territorial ambitions and this defence prepardness was s imply meant to ensure peace. India has never desired to covet the territory of any other nation, rather has been an apostle of peace, he said. The Prime Minister's comments can be seen in the light of the relations between India and China, who have 3,488 km of un-demarcated boundary along the Himalayan ridgeline and the repeated attempts by Pakistan to foment trouble in Jammu and Kashmir.
"In thousands of years of history we have never desired anyone's territory, rather than wining countries through wars, India has believed in winning hearts. This is the land from where the message of peace and universal brotherhood has gone out from Vedic times. This is the land from where Buddhism spread to the world. Had not China and Pakistan been India's neighbour India would have given peace to its citizens. But since China and Pakistan have extra-territorial ambitions the two nations have forced India to increase annually, its budget allocations fol its defence. In fact India would have witnessed a sea change in the sect ors of education, health and Industry had not New Delhi been forced to spend over 12 per cent budget on defence. India would have rubbed shoulders with any super powers as far as technological revolution is concerned but China and Pakistan continue to be a major problem for India. Well nothing can be said with certainty about the mischief potential of Pakistan and China. It has been visible that China and Pakistan have promoted cordial ties simply as enemy of India. The two nations would have waged a war against India or thrust a war on India had not the USA and Russia been close allies of India. In fact India has been forced to buy latest fighter planes, other sophisticated weapons, including long range guns, from various countries and this comes not under any military aid. But the tax payers' in India have to bear the burden of import of very costly equipment for its armed forces. Against this Pakistan is a recipient of military and economic aid from the US and China. The US President, Donald Trump has issued threats of suspension of military and economic aid to Pakistan if Islamabad took no steps against curbing terrorists activities. However, the US has no so far executed its threat because it fears that the result of its action could force Pakistan to fall in the lap of China. And already China has been providing liberal military and economic aid to Pakistan and has assured Islamabad that its engineers may help Pakistan in learning to develop latest missile technology. And once Pakistan finds its defence sector stronger than India it may not desist from measuring muscles with India and that is the main reason for India's annual increase in defence budget.
