Exposing nexus between ED officials, booksellers
Axe likely to fall on CEO Rajouri
4/25/2018 10:55:04 PM
Early Times Report

Rajouri, Apr 25: Axe is likely to fall on Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri for exposing the nexus between the book sellers and Education Department officials (higher) for the sale of government books in the open market in Rajouri district.
Reliable sources in the department said, "Earlier it was presumed that the government books meant for free distribution among the students of government schools during current session were sold in the market by the Rajouri Education department officials".
But during ensuing investigation, the availability of large number of government books with reputed book sellers, from where the students of private schools have purchased them, can't be made only by the officials from Rajouri.
"A big nexus can't be ruled out between the whole sellers at Jammu and the officials of the department associated with the distribution of books" said sources.
During preliminary investigation by the teams constituted by Ch Lal Hussain (on the complaints by the people) the education department have seized government supplied books from 75 private institutions out of 80 inspected by the teams.
Sources in the department said that during interaction with the students by the team members at various private schools-many books were seized from the students for official investigation / records-students admitted to have purchased the books from reputed book houses situated in Rajouri town.
"The supply of text books, copies, stationery etc to these reputed book houses is being made by the whole sellers at Jammu and their involvement in this nexus can't be ruled out. Large number of government books in the open market can only be supploed from ZEOs offices or from the Education Board (including supplier)" said sources.
Immediately after the network of the government books available in the open market, CEO Rajouri had constituted the teams
"Under second step, all the stores in the ZEOs offices in Rajouri district were sealed and under third step physical verification of all the records available with the concerned teachers (associated with collections of books from ZEO office) is in progress and in some zones the difference between collection and distribution has been detected at large scale" said CEO, Ch Lal Hussain.
He added within next few days the inquiry will be completed and the truth will come out. He denies any pressure from any quarter yet and said, "He is ready to face consequences in exposing this nexus".
"Whether the nexus is between the officials at ZEOs offices or the officials at Directorate level are involved , is a matter of detailed investigation because from current session ZEOs were authorised to collect the books directly from Directorate office" said a senior officer of education department.
This scam could be the one of the biggest scams in the Rajouri education department and may runs in crores of Rupees.
