'Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs of Kathua living together'

Early Times Report

Kathua, May 3: Attempts are being made to harm Hindu-Muslim-Sikh unity in district Kathua over the Rassana rape and murder case by indulging in politics.
This was stated by the participants of a meeting held on Thursday. The meeting was organized by young leader Sayeed Ali at Mesha Chak of Hiranagar and people of different communities participated in it. During the meeting, people also raised slogans of Muslim-Hindu-Sikh unity.
Ali said that the Rasana case is condemnable and the authorities are doing their work, but from the past some days some leaders had posted on social sites including Facebook and Twitter that Hindus have stopped water supply and electricity of Gujjar and Bakerwal in Hiranagar area which is completely baseless. "Nothing like this has happened here in Hiranagar," said Ali.
"Some mischievous persons are provoking Muslims in Rajouri, Poonch, Doda and Kashmir valley that Gujjars are being harassed in Hiranagar and Kathua. The truth is that Gujjars and Bakerwals are living peacefully and they are not having any problem," he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Bharati Sharma and Dharmapal Kundal said that for the last several decades, people belonging to Hindu-Muslim-Sikh-Christian communities are living in Kathua. "But some leaders are making a political capital out of the rape and murder case," they said, alleging that the Gujjar leader Talib Hussain is trying to mislead his community and also wants to spoil the communal harmony "which will not be tolerated." They said the people in Kathua are living with mutual brotherhood and they want to appeal to the people of Doda, Poonch, Rajouri and Kashmiris not to believe in the propaganda spread on social media.
On the occasion, Roshan Din of Hiranagar said that Gujjars and Bakerwal are living peacefully. Radhe Sharma, Deepak Chand, Nirmal Singh, Haji Sher Ali, Meera Bakh, and Sadik Ali were also present on the occasion.
