"They threatened the Pharma company employees and decamped with over Rs 5 lakhs from the Pharma company employees after snatching two bags, and beat up driver of Innova," said police. The SP Rural said that the snatchers snatched keys of the vehicle and punctured one of the tyres of the vehicle of victims so that they can flee safely and it can cause delay in alerting police about the robbery.
"Driver was well versed with the interior routes of the area since they had adopted Kapa Gala to Khour route when they escaped after robbery," said the police officer. He said that they had constituted a Special Investigating Team (SIT) comprising of SDPO Akhnoor, DySP Manish, SHO Akhnoor, Inspector SD Singh and in-charge police post Chowki Chowra, SI Ravi and the team started investigation in and around Kappa Gala-Khour route.
With the help of technical and human inputs came to know that the robbers were locals and SIT also took the help of other police stations to apprehend the absconding robbers, said the SP Rural.
"During the course of investigation, police team apprehended Bani Gupta- an alleged history sheeter who is resident of RS Pura-after getting information that he was noticed moving in Khour and Chowki Chowra areas", said SP Rural adding that on the basis of inputs, Bani was rounded up first for his questioning.
SP further added that during his questioning, he confessed the robbery and disclosed the names of his accomplices. Acting on the disclosure of Bani, raids were conducted in separate locations and in out of state too where from two accused persons were arrested.
SP said that Bani was accompanied in crime by Arjun Singh, Nitish Sharma alias Munna and Rohit Manhas. They were arrested with the help of different police stations of Jammu.
