Stone-pelters injured 3,000 CRPF personnel, Delhi granted amnesty to 10,000s of them
India a unique nation

Early Times Report
Jammu, June 18: India is a unique nation. It, unlike countries like Israel, China, Russia, United States, Australia and Turkey, has its own way of dealing with stone-pelters. Information from New Delhi said: "Over 3,000 CRPF personnel have been injured in stone-pelting incidents and attacks by mobs in the Valley. This year (2018), more than 600 incidents of stone-pelting had been recorded before the May 16 suspension of operations for Ramzan. There were 2,808 recorded incidents of stone-pelting against security forces in 2016, and 1,198 till November 2017".
There was the need to act against stone-pelters and produce a moral effect so that they didn't dare to throw stones or rocks at the CRPF personnel engaged in anti-insurgency operations in Kashmir braving all odds, including several restrictions, but the Government of India acted otherwise. Instead of doing so, the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh granted amnesty to nearly 10,000 stone-pelters in Kashmir. According to credible sources, the Union Home Ministry took this mind-boggling decision at the behest of the Government of India's interlocutor for Jammu & Kashmir, former Intelligence Bureau Director Dineshwar Sharma.
As was expected, the grant of amnesty to the stone-pelters gave a fillip to the stone-pelting incidents in Kashmir. It was expected that the Union Home Ministry would review its decision and withdraw the amnesty. Again it didn't happen. Instead, on June 7, Rajnath Singh announced amnesty to more stone-pelters - an announcement that was criticized by many, especially by the strategic affairs experts and former Army Generals.
In Israel, China, Russia, United States, Australia and Turkey, stone-pelters are dealt with stringent punishment. But India is India. Here dreaded stone-pelters, who are actually over ground workers of terror organizations, are treated with kid-gloves. No wonder then that they injured over 3,000 CRPF personnel with stones and rocks.
