Police recovers kidnapped minor girl, abductor nabbed

RAJOURI, July 4: Police have apprehended a person, who was accused of kidnapping a minor girl from Nowshera in district Rajouri, and recovered the abducted girl.
According to police sources, a team of police station Nowshera nabbed one Gagan Singh son of Sher Singh of Jammu in the wee hours today and recovered the kidnapped girl from his possession while both were on way to Jammu.
The police sources said P Kumar, resident of Mangal Dai village at about 2 am contacted the police at police station Nowshera and informed about his minor girl's kidnapping during late night hours.
On complaint lodged by the father, the police team headed by Inspector Romel Singh, SHO swung into action and beside Police Control Room and 'night police nakas' on Jammu-Poonch highway were also alerted.
Police under the supervision of Master Popsy, ASP, Nowshera started investigation. Police said in the wee hours the accused along with girl was apprehended at police naka at Sunderbani.
Sources said both had taken lift just up to ahead of Sunderbani town (police naka) in order to avoid frisking by the police and started moving towards Jammu on feet but were apprehended by the police.
After legal formalities both were handed over to Nowshera police today for further investigation. Initial investigation by the police revealed that Gagan was regular visitor to thehouse of his relative at Mangal Dai and might have developed love affair with the minor girl, a student of 11th class and on Tuesday reportedly both have eloped.
After legal formalities the girl will be handed over to the family, informed SHO. The whole operation was supervised by ASP and Khaliq Choudhry, SDPO.
