Two drug peddlers held, over 400 kg poppy straw recovered

Jammu, July 6: Special Operation Group (SOG) along with Bahu Fort police today claimed to have arrested two drug dealers, seized a truck and recovered around 413 kg poppy straw (bhukki) from their possession.
Addressing media persons, Superintendent of Police (Operations), Vinay Kumar who is also holding the charge of Superintendent of Police (SP) flanked by SDPO East Vipan Chandran, SHO Bahu Fort Inspector Parvaiz Sajjad and in-charge police post Bathindi, SI Rakesh Roshan said that today a joint Naka of Special Operation Group (SOG) Jammu and local Police was established at Sunjwan Morh, Jammu for security checking in view of SANJY-2018 and a truck bearing registration number JK03B-0928 on way from Kashmir towards Amritsar was stopped for checking purpose.
He further said that driver of truck tried to flee away from spot making the scenario suspicions, the naka party over powered the driver and during the thorough checking of the said truck, Police Party recovered huge quantity of about 413 kg narcotic substance i.e. bhuki.
"On questioning, the driver of truck disclosed his name as Umar Riaz of Vuyam Pomporo and associate disclosed his name as Sabir Khan of Amb Gharota", said SP Vinay.
This huge catch of narcotic is a one step ahead of the District Police Jammu in the operation Sanjeevni.
The arrest and recovery was made by Police team headed by SI Rakesh Roshan, in-charge police post Bathandi under the close supervision of Inspector Parvaiz Sajjad, SHO Bahu Fort, Vipan Chandran, SDPO East. In-charge SP South Vinay Sharma under overall supervision of Vivek Gupta, SSP Jammu. A case under FIR No 177/2018 under section 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered at police station Bahu Fort Jammu while further investigation is on in this regard.
