Gunfight rages in Handwara forests, one unidentified militant killed

KUPWARA, July 26: One unidentified gunmen has been killed in an encounter that rages between militants and security forces in Handwara forests of this north Kashmir district, said police official.
According to top police official that gunfight erupted on Thursday between militants and security forces in Sadal village of Handwara forests.
We had got inputs about the presence of 2-3 militants in the forest areas, after which a joint team of 21RR of army, CRPF and SOG Handwara cordoned off area, the police official told early times.
He said that, soon after the security forces intensified searches towards suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon the search party, triggering of an encounter in which one unidentified militants was killed whose identification was not immediately known, adding operation against the militants was on till the last reports came in.
However sources said that security forces had launched a cordon at Check Sadal village today in the afternoon, where the militants had taken shelter in the dense woods.
There was a brief encounter, where one unidentified militant has been killed, adding the encounter is over, but the security forces were searching for other militants who possibly have fled from the area, said sources.
