Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 10: The incompetence of the Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department (H&ME) can be gauged from that fact that the chair of the Director is lying vacant for last 10 days but concerned officials have remained nonchalant to the issue.
Here it needs to be mentioned that since Dr Gurjeet Singh retired from the aforesaid post, it is lying vacant for past 10 days, affecting the functioning of the Directorate Health Services Jammu.
Official sources told that for the first time in the history the chair of the Director along with other posts viz Deputy Director Schemes, Assistant Director Health, State Malariologist, State Tuberculosis Officer and others at DHS Jammu, which is parental department of various health institutes of the Jammu province, have been lying vacant and nothing seems moving to fill the posts.
Sources also said that there are a number of names are running for the post of the Director of DHS Jammu included Dr Ravinder Khajuria, who has been attached by then Health Minister Bali Bhagat, Dr Samir Matto, Dr Chander Parkash, and Dr Yash Pal Sharma but no consensus, was reached so far.
"There is a rumor that the post is not filling due to the pressure of the few politicians, who do not want that the other person to be appointed as Director DHS Jammu except for their close aide, and asked few bureaucrats to strictly follow the instructions in appointing the person on the post, causing unwanted delay in taking decision in this regards, "Sources alleged.
Principal Secretary Dr Pawan Kotwal could not be contacted for the comments.
