IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu observes Swachhta Pakhwada

JAMMU, Sept 15: Regional Centre of Indira Gandhi National Open University observed 'Swachhta Pakhwada 2018' Jammu w.e.f. September 1 which concluded today on September 15, 2018 as per guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development and Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
The 'Swachhta Pakhwada 2018' was inaugurated by administering of 'Swachhta Pledge' by Dr. Vikram Singh, Regional Director I/c to the staff of Regional Centre on September 1, 2018. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Vikram Singh highlighted the importance of cleanliness and requested all officers and staff to ensure cleanliness around their workplaces.
During this Pakhwada, RC Jammu organized various activities related to cleanliness awareness, tree plantation/sapling plantation, cleanliness awareness programmes in and around the nearby areas of the Regional Centre.
Assistant Regional Directors, Dr. Sandeep Gupta and Dr. Asha Upadhyay visited some of the local City Centres during the Cleanliness fortnight and conducted awareness programmes. Cleanliness awareness programmes were also organized at the Regional Centre during the fortnight. As a part of the programme, plantation drive was organized and saplings were planted on the sides of walking track of nearby Canal Park. Assistant Registrar, S Tejinder Pal Singh and Section Officer, Dara Singh were also present on the occasion. The team of officers and staff cleaned the entire office premises and went around the surroundings with banners to make people aware of the need for cleanliness in the area.
Regional Centre Jammu has been organizing various programs related to cleanliness from time to time under the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' of the Government of India and efforts have also been made to reach out to common masses through the learners and Learner Support Centres across the region.
