Distt admin hands over free land to H&ME Deptt

VIJAYPUR, Sept 15: The Samba district administration formally handed over encumbrance free land, for setting up of the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), to the Health and Medical Education department for its further transfer to the CPWD, which is the project execution agency, in a brief function at the AIIMS site.
On the directions of the State government, the Samba administration was tasked to ensure early start of the work on the prestigious project. The arduous task of clearing the proposed AIIMS site at Vijaypur, District Samba, free of encumbrances and Rehabilitation of nomadic families at the proposed designated site has been completed successfully and peacefully "said Sushma Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner, Samba". The DC further added that the task was taken up on mission mode with effect from 20thJuly, 2018, and the same got concluded due to complete confidence and support of higher authorities and dedication of Team Samba.
A total of 1954 kanals and 6 marlas of land has been acquired for establishment of AIIMS. Of this, 747 kanals of land is on the northern side i.e. left side of Jammu-Pathankot National Highway and 1207 kanals and 6 marlas on southern side i.e., right side of the highway. The construction of AIIMS boundary wall is already underway. The work on the boundary wall on the Northern side has been completed up to 710 mtrs and on the Southern side; it has been completed up to 1800 mtrs.
The challenge before the District Administration was that of rehabilitation and peaceful resettling of the nomadic families. Now, that the rehabilitation of displaced nomadic families has almost been completed, the District Administration Samba is focusing on providing basic facilities to the resettled families at the new site.
The land was formally handed over to officials of Health department in presence of Dr. Arun Manhas, Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Vijay Kumar, Sub Divisional Magistrate Vijaypur, Nodal Officer AIIMS, CMO Samba, Executive Engineer CPWD, Tehsildar Vijaypur and other revenue and CPWD officials.
