'Giving mandate to new entrants unacceptable'
9/21/2018 11:27:23 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 21: With BJP announcing the names of candidates for 75 wards of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) the rebellion has hit the BJP's women wing as the activists are unhappy over the selection of candidates.
According to sources a delegation of Party's Women wing today met State President of BJP Ravinder Raina and expressed resentment over the manner in which the candidates were selected by the party for ensuing JMC Poll.
Sources said the Women Wing senior leaders while expressing their resentment told the BJP president that some senior party leaders have betrayed the senior activists, who have been associated with the party for the past many decades. "Party leaders giving mandate to new entrants is not acceptable," sources quoted women leaders as having told the president.
Women wing alleged that some senior leaders have played a dubious role by promoting new entrants. "Sentiments of senior activists have been hurt as they feel neglected and ignored by the leadership," the women leaders said.
Though Raina did not give any satisfactory reply to the Women Wing delegation but assured them that he would look into the matter and see that no party activist is ignored, sources added.
Many BJP activists are also feeling dejected though they have not yet come openly against the party decision. They are just watching the developments.
A woman activist from Gandhi Nagar area said that she was assured by a senior party leader and former Minister that she would be definitely given the mandate but on the eleventh hour he backtracked saying that he was under pressure from higher ups in the organisation.
Sources said even RSS has played a key role in ticket distribution and the senior activists feel that its role has also undermined their loyalty and service to the party. The increasing influence of Sangh over the ticket distribution is also being viewed seriously by the party activists who feel that this way the hardworking and loyal activists are ignored and the yes men and exploiters are preferred.
Sources said that some BJP activists have also decided to contact the BJP's central leadership to bring these issues into the notice of the top leaders.
Ignoring loyal workers is a dangerous trend and it can prove counterproductive for the party if BJP senior leaders don't mend their ways, sources added.
Sources said BJP is already facing a stiff opposition from Congress, National Panthers Party and Shiv Sena and in case the party fails to rope in its angry activists, results of JMC elections will spell doom for the party.
