| NITS Polytechnic organizes plantation drive | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 27: NITS Polytechnic, Indira Nagar, Miran Sahib, Jammu organises a tree plantation drive under the "Swachhta Hi Sewa" campaign in collaboration with Art of Living, Jammu Chapter. Students and faculty of the institute along with the volunteers and senior teachers of the Art of Living participated in the drive. A total of 250 saplings both ornamental and medicinal species were planted in and around the campus in the Indira Nagar.The tree plantation drive was carried out after the three days long cleanliness drive carried out under the campaign in the area.
Volunteers and Teachers of the Art of Living along with the students of the institute campaigned door to door and spread awareness about the importance of trees and cleanliness among the residents of the adjoining areas and urged them to enthusiastically participate in the "Swachhta hi Seva" campaign.
Anirudh Gupta organiser of the campaign speaking on the occasion said trees help us in overcoming rising air pollution which has caused spread of diseases at large scale and as a result of it; thousands of people are suffering from the respiratory diseases in the country. Tress will also help in controlling the rising temperature, as presently the world had been facing a major issue of global warming. He also informed that already around 1000 trees have been planted by the institution in and around the campus in association with the Forest dept. of the state and proper care is being given to the trees by the staff of the institute.
He appreciated the efforts of AOL Teachers Mamta, Manju, Prabha, Anju and students and staff of the institute for their participation in the campaign.
He said that NITS is committed to making India clean and green. |
