| Punjab based drug peddler held with 17 kg poppy straw | | |

Poonch, Sept 26: In continuation of its drive to curb Drug menace, Poonch Police today claimed to have arrested drug peddler and recovered 17 kg poppy straw from his possession.
Police spokesman said that a police party led by Inspector Som Raj-SHO Surankote and SI Jonesh Verma in-charge police post Behramgalla under the guidance of Anwar ul Haq, Additional SP Poonch, DySP Reyaz Choudhary and under the overall supervision of Rajiv Pandey-SSP Poonch raised a joint naka along with Army at Poshana on Mughal Road.
"During the checking/frisking, Police Party recovered 17 KG of Poppy Straw from a car (Hyundai i20) bearing registration number PB46Y-9909 and apprehended one person namely Kuldeep Raj of Tarntaran Punjab on the spot", said police spokesman adding that in this connection an FIR under relevant sections stand registered and investigation has been taken up accordingly. |
