ATJK lambast Union Govt over sky touching prices of Petrol, Diesel
9/27/2018 10:21:50 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 27: All Transporters of Jammu & Kashmir (ATJK) today lambasted Union Government over indefinite hike in petrol and diesel prices in country. According to press release, a meeting of ATJK was held here under the Chairmanship of S T S Wazir (Chairman All J&K Transport Welfare Association J&K Jammu) in which the President / Representatives of all commercial Transport Union including Buses, Matador, Taxies and Auto, Tanker Union, Truck Union, Railway Station Truck union etc were also present.
On the occasion all the Transporters of J&K State showed a great resentment towards the attitude of State/ Central Government of India because of Central Government of India increasing the rate of Petroleum products day by day and sucking the blood of Poor Transporters of J&K State. The transporters of J&K State are already not in a position to ply their vehicle as usual due to militancy for the last 30 years, disturbances on LOC unrest in Kashmir Valley etc and most of our vehicles remained stand still,
Revision in Passenger Fare: Central Govt, of Indian increasing the rate of petroleum products day by day. We have approached various time to the State Govt for revision in passenger fare and submitted a cost of operation to the State Government. The Government of J&K called Fare Standing Committee Meeting at Srinagar on 20.06.2018 when the Rate of diesel was Rs.68.00 but the Central Government has again increased the rate of diesel upto Rs. 76.00 which is increasing now on day basis so we demanded 30% hike in passenger fare and also demanding the power of increasing /decreasing of passenger fare delegated to Transport Commissioner when the rate of Diesel/Petrol increase / decrease automatically.
Harassment by Traffic / Executive Police. We are granting 50% concession to the students, handicapped and disabled persons in passenger fare and state Government allow us to carry 33% Extra passengers to compensate the losses due to the students concession. But the Traffic / Executive Police deliberately challaning our vehicles and not allow us to carry a single passenger extra. Traffic Department fixed a target for challaning the vehicles without any reason. We demanded one point checking at the neck of Municipal limit and allow to carry 33% extra seats, otherwise we will not grant any concession to students community because the state Government granted Route permit to the Transporters on payment and it is responsibility of the State Government to arrange their own vehicles for the students community.
Problems in RTO Office. Jammu: There is no proper functioning in the RTO Office. RTO Jammu has no sufficient time for renewal / replacement of route permit, registration of commercial vehicle, deposit of Route permit, shifting of passing ground from Nagrota to Jammu for Good Carrier and the behaviour of RTO also not satisfactorily with the transporters of Jammu Province.
