Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 28: With politics taking an ugly turn in Jammu city, some criminals reportedly hired by a political party entered the business premises of Rajinder Gupta, the NPP candidate from Ward No. 8 of JMC, attacked his son named Anmol Gupta, inflicted serious injuries on his head, face and other parts of body and threatened him of dire consequences in case his father continued with his political activities.
The injured who was alone in the shop was reportedly beaten with rods and iron rings and lay in a pool of blood until he was noticed by locals and shifted to emergency unit of Medical College Jammu. The grievous injuries on the person of Anmol Gupta have shocked the people of the ward who were present in the hospital and attending to the patient who got five stitches on his scalp besides being examined further in the hospital by holding his X-rays, CT scans and ultra sound.
On gaining consciousness, Anmol Gupta said that some 4-5 men entered his business centre in the afternoon and asked for his father. Upon being told that he was not in the shop, they started holding out threats saying that he should stop participating in politics or else the consequences would be disastrous. They thereafter attacked him with sharp edged weapons and left the shop hurling filthy abuses upon his father.
The Panthers Party has taken serious note of the issue and sought immediate arrest of the culprits who assaulted NPP worker. In an emergency meeting of the party, the party leaders threatened to hold a massive dharna outside the Police Headquarters Jammu besides Election Commission in case the criminals were not apprehended at the earliest and punished in accordance with law. They accused the civil and police administration of hobnobbing with their political masters so as to bully and browbeat Panthers. They made fervent appeal to the President of India and Chief Election Commissioner of India to intervene so as to save democracy in J&K.
In the meanwhile, Harsh Dev Singh visited GMC to enquire about the condition of Anmol Gupta. He asked party workers to exercise restraint seeking at the same time a high level probe into the criminal conspiracies being hatched against NPP workers by political opponents.
