Get assurance of justice
9/28/2018 10:34:50 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Sept 28: Farmers affected by Semi Ring Road in Srinagar had a meeting with Advisor Kumar and Chief Secretary in Budgam few days back when both had visited the district to meet public delegations. In addition to other issues the visiting Govt functionaries discussed the Ring Road issue in detail as more than 4700 kanals of agricultural land will be acquired in district Budgam alone.
Sources say that both Advisor and Chief Secretary carefully listened to the grievances of the farmers who made the visiting dignitaries understand the difficulties faced by farmers in J&K. Sources told Early Times that farmers impressed upon Advisor Kumar and Chief Secretary to give same treatment to farmers from J&K what Govt of India and National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) gives to other farmers across country.
" K Vijay Kumar Advisor and Chef Secretary carefully listened to our grievances and when we presented our case vis a vis disparity in the compensation between J&K and other states they said this was a very point and assured this would be addressed. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir who was in the meeting too gave us complete assurance that justice would be done with us.
The justice can only be done when we are paid 4 times more than the market rate of the land which is already a norm across other states of country . We will not accept any other thing other than 4 times rate and this we have conveyed to advisor and CS as well " said Ali Mohammad Wani General Secretary of Semi Ring Road Land Owners Welfare Committee.
Deputy Commissioner Budgam Dr Sehrish , DIG Central Kashmir Range and SSP Budgam were also present in the meeting. As reported already Rs 939 crore semi ring road road project was allotted to M/S RAMKY Infrastructure Ltd on Feb 28th this year. More than 6 months have passed the work is yet to begin. Govt has even failed to undertake cutting down of the trees as the affected farmers are agitated for not being paid fair compensation as per 2013 Land Acquisition Act of Govt of India.
Few months back Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ahmad Ganai who also looks after Revenue department had assured affected farmers of the Semi Ring Road that justice would be done with them during land acquisition. A delegation of affected farmers had a meeting with Advisor (G) at Civil Secretariat on July 7th wherein they apprised him about the injustice being done with them in Jammu and as well as in Kashmir valley.
