Model Academy conducts workshop on Professional development

jAMMU, Oct 6: Model Academy, the Prestigious School of MIER organized one day professional development programme for teachers.
Dr. B.L. Handoo, a renowned educationist and Master Trainer from Indira Consultancy services, Noida was the resource person for the workshop. In his welcome Address J.K.Dhiman highlighted the achievements of Dr. Handoo who has vast experience of over 40 years in the field of education, teaching, training, mentoring, innovating and management. Dr. Adit Gupta, Director MIER, Rupa Gupta, Joint Director, P.K. Srivastava Principal, J.K. Dhiman, Vice-Principal, Manager Academics and Conveners of various committee also attended the workshop.
Dr. Handoo enunciated certain innovative strategies and techniques of teaching that make the classroom environment conducive for teaching and learning. He reiterated the fact that in order to make classwork interesting the teacher has to adopt the strategies to make learning fun filled. The teachers participated in number of individual and group activities.
Rupa Gupta in her interaction said that such workshops help in empowering the teachers to address the needs of the learners and enhance their individuality, curiosity and creativity. She further said that for being innovative the teachers should make teaching interesting, nurture young minds, be open to new learning, share views, accept changes, teach to develop thinking abilities of children, adopt novel techniques and finally evaluate and ensure to use new ideas. Principal, P.K. Srivastava reiterated that skills acquired through the workshop shall facilitate teachers to understand the learners needs better and transform their teaching methodology into an interactive class that shall make learning more interesting and meaningful through students' engagement. All the teachers received participation certificate from the resource person.
Vote of thanks was proposed by Manju Vali Convener and the programme was co-ordinated by Manjari Sehgal, Manager Academics.
