10/6/2018 9:46:13 PM
Early Times Report
KATHUA, Oct 6: A large number of people from Kathua town today staged massive protest demonstration and expressed their resentment against shifting of Mahatma Gandhi Maternity & Child Care Hospital that was situated in the heart of the city. More than 2 lakh people get benefits of the hospital but the district administration allegedly has decided to shift the hospital to District Hospital 4 km away from the town.
Pertinently, Old District hospital was shifted near National Highway, remaining building was bifurcated between Kendriya Vidyalaya and Mahatma Gandhi Maternity Hospital wherein general patients of the town and surrounding villages were also treated in addition to child care. OPD facility was also provided by J&K Health & Medical department.
A National newspaper published news for shifting of hospital to utilize the building for medical college.
The news triggered resentment among people who alleged that district administration has now decided to run medical classes from this building.
Naresh Sharma, Akshay Bharti, Sain Dass, Robin Sharma, Ashwani Pandit, Amar Nath Ambi, Romesh Bharti and many other prominent citizens came on road against false policy of district administration and stringently opposed the shifting. Public demanded not to shift the hospital. They informed that the First aid facility, Ambulance, Oxygen and many other basic facilities are being provided to locals that would cease soon.
Rajinder Singh Babbi and Ravinder Singh Bablu also expressed similar view and added that being a representative of the city, MLA Kathua should work for the welfare of people but he himself tries pushing the town on back foot.
