Militants shot dead PDP Srinagar district President at Gangbugh-Hyderpora

SRINAGAR, Oct 28: Militants shot dead a worker of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Gangbugh area here today in the evening. A manhunt has been launched to nab the militants who carried out the attack.
Reports said that some militants barged into the house of Ghulam Mohammad Dar at Gangbugh-Hyderpora here and fired upon many bullets on his son Mohammad Amin Dar. Amin sustained grievous injuries in the firing incident and was shifted to Jhelum Valley College (JVC) hospital at Bemina.
Amin sustained to his injuries at the hospital and was declared dead by the doctors on duty at the hospital. Following this his body was taken to his house where a pall of gloom descended. The whole Dar family was shell shocked with the close relatives of Amin expressing their grief and sorrow over the death of their dear one.
Women could be seen beating their chests and it became very difficult for the others to control the emotions of family members of Amin. The children present at the house could be seen screaming and the situation was highly charged. The whole area of Gangbugh became tense after the incident with fear gripping the people.
Sources said that Amin was the Srinagar district President of PDP and was said to very close to the PDP leader and former minister Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari. Bukhari represents Amira Kadal assembly segment in the legislative assembly. Amin's killing has led to shock waves among the PDP leaders and workers.
The Gangbugh area falls near the Hyderpora and Tengpora areas of the Srinagar district and falls very close to the highway connecting Srinagar with South Kashmir, North Kashmir and Jammu. It also lies close to the Budgam district and lies on the fringe of the summer capital district of Jammu & Kashmir.
A police spokesman said that militants this evening fired on an individual at Gangbugh area of Hyderpora. In this incident, the individual sustained grievous gunshot wounds and was evacuated to nearby hospital for medical attention where he succumbed to his injuries.
"The individual has been identified as Mohammad Amin Dar son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar resident of Gangbugh, Srinagar. Police has registered a case in this regard and investigation has been initiated. Area has been cordoned off and searches are being made," said the spokesman.
