| Hurriyat must drop Pakistan backpack for talks: Governor Malik | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 28: Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik has said that there will be no talks with Hurriyat Conference outside the ambit of Indian constitution and the "dream of Azadi" should be abandoned by taking a lesson from Sri Lanka's militant outfit LTTE.
"We will only talk to Hurriyat Conference when they leave backpack of Pakistan.
And dialogue will only be held within the ambit of Indian constitution" Malik said in an interview with Times Now.
Malik said that Pakistan was not a stake holder but troublemaker in Kashmir. He said that spurt in stone pelting and militancy was because of the pressure mounted by Pakistan after a lot of noise made about municipal and local body polls in the state.
"Kashmiri youth have zero faith in Pakistan. We have to address their anger and alienation.
We have to give them balls not stones," he said.
He said people sold "dreams of Azadi" to Kashmiris for the last six decades and engaged innocent youth with it.
"And then Zakir Musa emerged. He became a cult figure. He rejected autonomy, Azadi and merger with Pakistan and instead called for a Caliphate.
He said caliphate with be established with Indian Muslims but he didn't knew Indian Muslims are not in favour of caliphate," Malik said.
"We have to make younger generation understand that nothing is going to change. LTTE was decimated despite support of 12 countries, its own navy, best of weapons and committed cadre. Girls as young as 13 would fight barefoot in Cobra infested forests," he said.
Like LTTE, he said militancy in Kashmir would not yield anything.
"Whatever they will get, it will only possible on the negotiation table," he said
