Bovine smuggling bid foiled

Kathua, Oct 31: The officials of Toll Post Lakhanpur foiled a smuggling bid when they nabbed a vehicle at midnight at Car Jeep Counter by Excise tea, led by SI Manzoor Ahmed.
As per information, the vehicle was carrying 5 numbers of bovine animals entering into the State with bearing Registration No. JK02CA-2836 type Mahindra Balero while trying to enter into the State at around 1.00 AM midnight was intercepted, chased and caught the vehicle near Maggar Khad. In the instant case, the ever alert staff of the Toll Post Lakhanpur nabbed the vehicles and foiled the attempt of illegal import of bovines.
The whole operation was conducted by the team of Excise department headed by Excise and Taxation Officers, Varinder Gupta, Aamir Ayaiz Rather , alongwith Sub-Inspectors Kanwaljeet Shan, Manvinder Paul Singh, Manzoor Ahmed and Excise Guards Mohammad Pervez, Naveen Kumar under the direct supervision of Ashish Kumar Gupta, Deputy Excise Commissioner, Toll Post Lakhanpur and accordingly the said vehicle has been handed over to Station House Officer, Police Station Lakhanpur for further necessary action under law.
The Excise Commissioner, J&K Government, Talat Parvez Rohella appreciated the efforts of the Excise staff in foiling the major bid to smuggle bovine animals and enjoined upon them to work with more zeal and in coordination with other departments/ agencies.
