14 bovine animals rescued, 4 arrested

JAMMU, Nov 8: Udhampur Police today claimed to have rescued 14 bovine animals at Jakhani, Udhampur and Tikri in two different incidnets.
Police spokesman said that based on reliable information, Police party of Police Station Udhampur led by Inspector Sanjeev Chib, SHO Udhampur under the supervision of Zahid Saif Wani-DySP Hqrs, Udhampur raised naka at Jakhani for checking of vehicles.
"During naka checking police party intercepted one truck bearing registration number JK05B-0810 and during the checking of said vehicle, 12 bovine animals were found loaded in this vehicle which was on its way from Udhampur to Kashmir without permission", said police spokesman. All the bovine animals were rescued on spot and the accused driver namely Mohd Azam of Nowgam, Anantnag alongwith Mohd Samoon of R S Pura, Jammu were arrested on spot.
In this connection a case under FIR No. 551 /2018 under section 188 of RPC and 3PCA Act has been registered at Udhampur police station and further investigation is going on.
Meanwhile, Police Party of Rehambal police station and police post Tikri led by Inspector Paramjeet Singh, SHO Rehambal assisted by SI Pawan Dogra in-charge police post Tikri under the supervision of Zahid Saif Wani-DySP Hqrs, Udhampur raised a naka at Tikri, Udhampur for checking of vehicles.
During naka checking, police party intercepted two bovine animals which were being taken by the smugglers on foot towards Srinagar without any valid permission, said spokesman.
He further said that both the bovine animals were rescued and the accused smugglers namely Ghulam Rasool and Saleem Mohd, both residents of Mand, Udhampur were arrested on spot.
In this connection, a case under FIR No.171 /2018 under section 188 of RPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Rehambal and further investigation was going on.
