Jammu, Nov 8: Apprehending that a local Executive Engineer (XEn) of Rural Development Department (RDD) may influence upcoming panchayat elections in favour of his brother, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Samba has written to Secretary RDD seeking his transfer. Irony of the matter is that despite the cognizance taken by the DDC, the XEn continues to hold the post. "Imagine the level of political clout the concerned XEN enjoys that despite the interference of DDC the concerned department could not transfer him," said sources in the department, adding that holding such a prime post will definitely help the contesting candidate, who happens to be his brother. It is worthwhile to mention here that DDC forwarded the said communication on 24-10-2018 and the influence of the said XEn in the corridor of power is so high that despite written communication recommending shifting of the said XEn of the DDC he is still holding the same position.
"The influence of the XEn can be gauged from the fact that recommendations of the was not taken seriously, " said sources adding that the copy of the communication was also sent to Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) J&K. |
