Srinagar, Nov 8: Barely two days after Peoples Conference candidate Junaid Mattu won the Mayor's seat in the Srinagar Municipal Corporation, senior BJP leader Ram Madhav visited Kashmir on Thursday to meet the PC leadership and rebels from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Sources said the BJP leader discussed the future prospects of alliance with the PC and their aides in the state, while the chances of government formation in Jammu and Kashmir were also discussed threadbare.
Sources said the two groups agreed that there was every possibility of government formation provided the Raj Bhawan doesn't dissolve the Assembly before December.
Sources said the meeting that lasted for around two hours was held in cordial manner and that all the participants were convinced with all the things that were discussed therein.
Sources said Madhav congratulated Sajad Lone on his party's victory in the SMC elections. Sources said Ram Madhav was satisfied with the performance of the PC in the state and also extended greetings on behalf of the party leadership. Sources said the meeting that was held at a prominent hotel on the banks of Dal lake was also attended by Junaid Mattu and Imran Ansari. Others who attended the meeting were Ansari's brother Irfan Ansari, their uncle Abid Ansari and some other rebel leaders from the PDP.
Sources said all the leaders from the group that supports Sajad Lone were present on the occasion had been waiting for Ram Madhav to visit Kashmir for fresh round of talks.
As per the sources, Madhav was scheduled to another round of talks with the leadership on Friday morning. Junaid Mattu had recently resigned from the National Conference and subsequently joined back Peoples Conference from where he had contested the municipal elections.
Meanwhile sources said Ram Madhav is also likely to hold talks with leaders from the PDP before leaving back for New Delhi.
