Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Nov 8: The lackadaisical approach of the District Administration could be gauged from the fact that nearly one dozen election officials including Returning and Assistant Returning Officers have been trapped in snow bound areas of Marwah Sub Division in Kishtwar District which is going to poll in first of Panchayat election on 17-11-2018 after the air force chopper failed to lift them.
Speaking to ET they said that they have been trapped since November 2 after they finished its duty assigned to them.
They said that the area is without electricity and communication while the only road link to the area got snapped . "No security, no food and no proper accommodation is available" they rued.
They said that the administration has failed to take step to shift them from the area which is witnessing harsh weather conditions.
"The Sinthan Top-Margan top road is closed due to heavy snowfall --- while Dachhan route is 15 KM journey on foot, and the area is highly militancy prone and they can't take the risk to walk on this route" they said adding that their family members are worried about them.
"We have been asked to sit on Nawapchi helipad since last five days so that they could airlift us, but no chopper turns up to lift them" the said urging upon the higher authorities to make arrangements for their shifting to Kishtwar. They said that in case anything happened to them, District administration will be responsible for the same.
