Governor decision to dissolve Assembly receives support
11/25/2018 10:26:28 PM
Early Times Report
Rajouri, Nov 25: Governor Satya Pal's decision to dissolve the Legislative Assembly of J&K state has been welcomed by large section of society in Rajouri district.
It was the common view that with fractured mandate and having different ideologies, National Conference, Congress and PDP alliance was not in a position to form stable government in the state.
"Governor's decision was right at right time. President or Governor Rule may be better for few months but it shouldn't be for longer period. Democratic process must be initiated as soon as possible and it would be better to hold Assembly elections along with Assembly Parliament election" said Khurshid Bismil, one among few top intellectuals, academician of Rajouri district.
Uncertainty was prevailing in the state after Governor's Rule and politicians were involved in horse trading to form the government.
"President or Governor Rules is no alternate to democracy.Elections should be held and the people must elect young and energetic people for the better development of the state as present politicians have already failed in all the fronts" said Bismil .
Professor Magray (retd) termed the dissolving of state Assembly neither illegal nor un-democratic.
On PDP, Congress and NC alliance to form government, Magray said it was a step taken in hurry by the former chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti because neither NC nor Congress had formally decided to join the government.
"Had these parties were thinking really working for the democracy and welfare of the people of the state they should have joined the proposed 'third front' by Sajad Gani Lone instead claiming for the formation of government in the state" said Magray.
Another prominent citizen, reputed academician and poet Farooq Muztar has also welcomed the dissolving of state Assembly and termed it right decision at appropriate time.
He was of the view that the election should be held at the earliest and an elected government must implement the centrally sponsored schemes in letter and spirit.
"Unemployment, extremism and separatism have spoiled the atmosphere in Kashmir and union government must have clear policy for Kashmir issue and should also have check/ monitoring on the implementation of funds provided for the development of the people of J&K" said Farooq Muztar
Representatives and Pahari speaking community and office holders of J&K Pahari People Movement (JKPPM) including MS Qureshi, Asok Kumar Umair Mir and others has welcomed the Governor's decision and said the Governor's rule was necessary for the overall development of all the regions than the political government.
