Shutdown and protests against alleged human rights violations
12/10/2018 10:13:00 PM
Issue or no issue the separatists have to register their presence in Kashmir which they do by calling for shutown and protest rallies. The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has called for protest shutdown in Kashmir on International Human Rights Day on December 10 against the continuous human rights violations being perpetrated by troops in Jammu and Kashmir. The three leaders said people of Kashmir should observe complete protest strike on December 10 to highlight the human right situation in Valley and lodge their protest towards callous attitude of international community and rights organisations towards the plight of people of Kashmir. If these separatists realize that if anytime in Kashmir human rights violations have taken place it is since 1990 when Pakistan sponsored insurgency hit the vale of Kashmir and then Jammu. Prioer to the export of militancy from Pakistan Jammu and Kashmir was a symbol of peace and communal harmony.
The separatists have urged the world peace organizations, international community, Amnesty International Asia Watch, UNHRC and ICRC to take note of the Kashmir situation and put pressure on New Delhi to stop the grave human rights violation forthwith. December 10 will witness mass rallies of people and activists across the globe, wherein people will highlight upholding and respect for human rights. Kashmir will be among very few places in the world, where people will not be allowed to register their resentment and protest worst kind of state oppression, separatists believe so. They said J&K continues to see the worst ever human rights violations as state repression goes from bad to worse with the increase in killings especially of youth to subvert the people movement.
Some of these separatists are more well read than the leaders of mainstream political parties and they should know why the alleged human rights violations have been taking place in Jammu and Kashmir. If anybody or if any country is responsible for forcing security forces to maintain peace in Jammu and Kashmir it is Pakistan. Right from 1989 foreign mercenaries were assisted by the Pak Army in crossing the LoC to indulge in incidents of violence. The first target was the Kashmiri Hindus, called the Pandits, and in order to save their lives and honour of their daughters more than 3.50 lakh Pandits left the valley and settled, first in Jammu, where camps were set up. Later these Pandits migrated to various states and to foreign lands. But the plight of these Pandits has been miserable because they have lost their homeland, culture and civilization. And since 1990 there has been repeated conflict between the Indian security forces and the terrorists and if there are cases of human rights violations it is because of this conflict.
