| Punjab based drug smuggler arrested with poppy straw | | | Early Times Report
RAMBAN, Dec 14: Ramban police today on the directions of SSP Ramban Anita Sharma KPS, a police party led by SHO Ramban Insp Vijay Kotwal under supervision of DY SP Hqrts Ramban Asgar Malik KPS & under close supervision of Adll.Sp Sanjay Parihar KPS established a surprise naka near Cafteria More, Ramban on NHW to check the vehicle especially outside state bound vehicles. Most of the times it has been seen that such vehicles plying on NHW are involved in smuggling of drug. During checking & Frisking one Punjab bound vehicle(Truck) bearing reg.no.PB13AF/9939 was on its way from Kashmir was signaled to stop for checking, but the driver accelerate the vehicle & tried to run away, but the alert cops chased the vehicle & stopped at a little distance. During thorough search, the vehicle found ladden with apple boxes & recovered POPPY STRAW(Bhukki) packed in poly carry bags weighing about 15 KG from a box beneath the driver' seat, supposed to have made especially for smugglings, the new modus operandi for transporting the narcotics. It is pertinent to mention that on yesterday 43 kgs of Poppy straw has been seized that too from a Punjab bound truck. On questioning the suspected person disclosed his identity as Salam Din S/O Khushi Mohd R/O Thoi Pind Maler Kotla, (Sangroor) Punjab has been arrested. In this regard case FIR NO 201/18 U/S 8/15 of NDPS act stand registered against ther accused person at P/S Ramban & investigation has been geared up to ascertain the source & other persons involved in smuggling of narcotics. |
