Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 14: The very purpose of distance education as pursued by the Indira Gandji National open university has been failed by its Jammu centre as IGNOU candidates, mostly government teachers have been allotted exam centers in other districts.
They accused the IGNOU administration of being insensitive to the problems of the candidates due to unrealistic allotment of centers by the University authorities at regional Center Jammu.
If sources are to be believed, after allotting far flung centers to the students, centers of some of the candidates were changed manually which were not accepted by the examination staff and later, the Regional Director also said that all the manually changed centers had been cancelled.
"There is total chaos and mismanagement in the Regional Centre IGNOU headed by Regional Director Vikram Singh", said sources adding that during the time of filling of examination forms, around 15 choices were given to the candidates but at the time of allocation of centers authorities gave center in far flung area without considering their choice.
Some of the candidates of Basantgarh were allotted centres in far flung areas of Mahore where there is no provision of accommodation and it is impossible for students of Basantgarh to reach Mahore daily; moreover, their exam were also secluded in morning session.
Around 10,000 in-service government teachers gave B Ed exam through IGNOU and most of the centres were allotted out of districts.
Students further alleged that there was no class arrangement by IGNOU and no study centers were allotted to them besides complete study material was also not provided.
Sources further claimed that some female candidates who have health issues and pregnancy issues were put in a fix by such unfeasible allottments.
