Early Times Report
kishtwar, Dec 14: After highlighting of uniform scam by ET in its 21-10-2018 edition, the ZEO Thathri is trying to hush up the matter and has bought the uniform after finalizing the deals with the brokers which is lying in heaps in ZEO office Thathri.
The sources told ET that uniforms were to be provided to government school students by March 2018, but even after the lapse of 10 months, over 2500 school children of Thatri zone were yet to receive the same as the authorities did not buy the uniform till reports of this scandal got published by the Early Times.
Interestingly the uniform meant for 2018 has been bought after declaration of winter vacations.
The authorities in addition to this were also waiting for the 8th class students of middle schools and 5th class students of primary schools to pass and leave the schools for next classes in high schools and different middle schools so that the uniform for the students of these two classes of over 110 schools could be saved.
Fearing the enquiry from different agencies, the headmasters of different schools are not ready to lift the uniform from ZEO office Thathri. It is also reported that the uniforms have been bought without taking the measurement of students.
Interestingly, despite several complaints of corruption, mismanagement, and misappropriation of funds both by the public and teaching community, the higher authorities are not seizing the additional drawing and disbursing powers of zonal education office Thathri from the headmaster high school Thathri as this incharge ZEO has also hushed up the scandal of UPS Cheera and is trying to shield his blue eyed who has fraudulently withdrawn 1.50 lac from the bank account of this school.
It is pertinent to mention that the lackadaisical approach of the officials of Education Department including that of Chief Education Officer Doda could be gauged from the fact that even the current academic session ended with the announcement of winter vacations, but over 2500 poor students studying in around 120 Government Schools of Thatri Education Zone of Doda District were yet to receive the free uniforms.
Early Times in the month of October also contacted Advisor Khurshid Ahmed Ganie who assured that he will look into the matter, but even after nearly two months, no action has been taken against the guilty.
