Field Outreach Bureau organizes Awareness Programme on RTI Act

UDHAMPUR, Dec 14: On the 2nd day of 3-day long Campaign on SVEEP, RTI and drug Abuse launched by Bureau of Outreach and Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Udhampur in close coordination with District Administration, Udhampur Right to information Act was taken up for awareness of masses especially youth.
On this occasion a Seminar on Right tom information Act was organised at government Higher Secondary School, Jaganu in which 10 students drawn from Government Girls High School and Government Higher Secondary School, Jaganu participated. The participants of the Seminar highlighted the importance of Right to Information Act which provides access to citizens to seek information from Government Institutions.
Rupali Vaid, Block Development Officer, Udhampur and Shri Sham Lal Agnihotri, Lecturer, Botany who acted as Resource Persons delivered key note addresses on various issues related to RTI Act. They said that Right to Information Act has brought tremendous change in government institutions, bringing transparency and accountability. They provided elaborated awareness and information of Right to Information ACT-2005 and Right to Information Act-2009.
Sanjeet Kumar Sharma, Sarpanch who was the Chief Guest of the function while addressing the audience said that RTI Act should be implemented in all institutions including political setup. He said that such type of programmes are very beneficial and should be organized on regular basis to empower citizens with awareness which is the tool of development and upliftment.
Vijay Kumar Incharge of the hoist Institute who presided over the function while presenting vote of thanks said that awareness plays a vital role in empowering the citizens and its need becomes more important when such issues like RTI Act are taken up.
Gurnam Singh and Shri Madan Gopal, Incharge Field Outreach Bureau, Udhampur and Doda also interacted with audience and highlighted importance of such campaign.
