Congress must stop infighting to win 2019 poll
12/14/2018 10:56:24 PM
It has taken full one day to select Kamal
Nath as MP Chief Minister and the fate of Chief Ministers of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh holds in the balance. Rahul Gandhi has given importance to seniority and experience and that is why he has selected Kamal Nath as MP CM. Though the Congress has had great success in three states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh Assembly election where it caused tremors in the BJP organization forcing to lick defeat, the ruling Congress finds it difficult to pick up a candidate who could be suitable to lead the Congress Governments in these three states. There is a race between Sachin Pilot, Rajasthan President of the Congress and former Chief Minister, Ashok Ghelot. Reports say that Sachin Pilot has already made up his mind to settle for Ashok Ghelot who has had the experience of running the Government successfully. Congress president Rahul Gandhi will meet party's chief minister hopefuls in the capital amid severe friction in Rajasthan and a smooth run in Madhya Pradesh. Reports have revealed that while Guna MP Jyotiraditya Scindia has reconciled to his senior colleague and nine-time Lok Sabha MP Kamal Nath being the chief minister in Madhya Pradesh, but Kamal Nath has had to face Khalsa leader, Manjinder Singh Sirsa who has claimed that Kamal Nath had a hand in the anti-Sikh riots in 1984. Rajasthan Congress president Sachin Pilot is fighting for his claim despite Ashok Gehlot, former chief minister, leading the race.
The face off is the first test of Gandhi's leadership. Had the Congress upset the BJP in the elections in the reign of Indira Gandhi she would have picked up candidates for Chief Minister's post on her own. Her writ was to be accepted and those challenged her writ could face severe punishment. Reports have stated that while Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul's sister was with her brother to assist him in choosing the right for the right job but the Congress is not what it was during Indira Gandhi. And Rahul Gandhi is responsible for it otherwise during Indira's time there would have been no friction in the Congress for the post of Chief Ministers in three states. Rahul Gandhi has to learn to lead the party which is aiming at dethroning Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Hence the Congress has to set the order right as far as the organization is concerned because in the near future things ,may become difficult for Rahul Gandhi to handle.
The Congress win in three states has given a new I mage to Rahul Gandhi who is supposed to lead the nation after 2019 Lok Sabha elections in case the Congress won the poll.Well winning three states may not guarantee successs of the Congress to dismantle Modi led Government. It is not difficult for the Congress to upset the BJP applecart in case those who are close to Modi stop in indulging in issuing controversial statements. The BJP has the power to rise from its grave but it depends on the sincere support of Samajawadi party and BSP to the grand alliance formed by the Congress. This grand alliance was responsible for forcing the BJP to lose power in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The antiincumbency factor has been responsible for the BJP to lose to the Congress and the art of Rahul Gandhi to carry the support of other national level and regional level political parties. In case the Congress failed to set the rocking boat at the anchor there is little possibility of its success in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
