MENDHAR, Dec 18: A major fire broke out along the Line of Control (LoC) in Balakote Sector of Mendhar Sub Division of Poonch on Tuesday. The fire started from the PaK side and spread on this side of the fencing and covered about 2 to 3 sq kms of area including Balakote Village near LOC in Balakote Sector.
There was thick smoke and high flames being seen from the distance along the LoC. "Alert has been sounded at the adjoining Indian posts," the sources said.
The army suspected it may be a strategy of Pakistan to push militants to this side taking cover of smoke and fire. They said that mine explosion sounds are heard in the area, creating panic in the area. |
