"File regarding this issues related to various districts of state pending before the Law Department since long, as the HUDD has forwarded all the file, we received from DCs to Law Department its nod", sources in HUDD claimed and added that delay on the part of concerned Deputy Commissioners, is taking time.
"In the very beginning, when results of ULB polls on 20th October 2018, we sought complete detail of elected MC members from concerned, due to inordinate delay on the part, we have to wait collect the required and complete information from DCs, and then we forwarded it Law Department", sources said and added that that it date notifications of at least eight districts have issued after clearance from Law Department.
"Notification for the appointment of Chairpersons' in MCs for eight districts including, Poonch, Jammu, Kathua, Leh, Kargil and other have been issued by the department and same for remaining districts will be issued by or before 21st of December", sources said, citing engagement of Law Department for getting prepared for imposition of President's Rule in state.
However, advocating fast track issuance of notifications regarding appointments of elected representatives, of ULB, an unofficially elected Chairperson of MC told ET, that since the day when results were declared, people were coming to them seeking redressal of issues of road, drainage, water, electricity and more. "But it is not possible to address the problems being faced by the people until to you officially own the powers", he said and added that government should fix responsibility of concerned DCs, if they delay to forward the cases of their respective districts to HUDD.
He said that for last two months they were fulfilling demands of public on their own. "We are elected representatives, we appeals to Governor Satya Pal Malik to look into the matter to avoid further damage to our image", he said and added that the remaining districts were lagging behind due DCs inefficiency.
