Another pearl dropped by Governor SP Malik
12/18/2018 10:11:39 PM
Once again Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, S.P. Malik, has dropped a pearl from his mouth when he said in a place like Ghaziabad (UP) that the aim of the Government, he heads in the state, was to kill terrorism and not terrorists. Is it possible for ending terrorism without killing terrorists? This not a fact because as long as terrorists hold the guns terrorism would thrive. He was possibly referring to Pulwama incidents where, during an encounter between the militants and the security forces, seven civilians were killed in clashes with the security forces. And this has given rise to furore in political circles. While the Joint Resistance Leadership of separatists has given a call for a three-day shutdown Omar Abdullah has said that the incident was no less than a bloodbath and the same expression was used by Mehbooba Mufti.
Claiming that "terrorism" prevails in the "minds" and "not in guns", Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik has said his priority is not to eliminate "terrorists but to eradicate terrorism in the state". The Governor, who claimed, the whole scenario in Jammu and Kashmir is "different" now.
Instead of giving shelter to terrorists, the villagers now help the forces and police to arrest the ultras, Malik said. All district administrative heads have been directed to listen to grievances of the villagers in person and to solve them, he said.
"Without caring the Governor's protocol, I personally went to meet former chief minister Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti at their residences to seek their help to provide better law and order and progress in the state," Malik said. The government is willing to complete all the developmental schemes for which Rs 8,000 crore loan has been taken from the banks, the Governor added
Well if the separatists are to be believed the situation continues to be fluid in Kashmir. And if the Governor had gone to the residences of Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, two former Chief Ministers, for their help to promote peace but Omar and Mebooba seem to be helpless before the separatists, Pakistan and the militants. Had Mehbooba been the sole person to promote peace why did she fail to establish peace during the killing of Burhan Wani, a top militant, in encounter with the security forces. And if peace is derailed in Kashmir it is the fallout of killing of Burhan Wani and Pakistan issues a stamp in his honour in a bid to lend support to those holding guns.
